LIFE IN 1/6 SCALE.
A SMALL WORLD WITH A LOT GOING ON.
Welcome to the part of LaFlorette Doll Society where dolls become characters,
miniature rooms become homes,
and a simple photograph can turn into a whole new story.
Here, I get to be a casting director, a photographer, a set designer,
a storyteller… and occasionally a very nosy neighbour!
Because once you start creating a world in 1/6 scale,
things can get a little out of hand.
And I absolutely love it.

01 — MEET THE RESIDENTS
SOME DOLLS HAVE A SECOND LIFE.
Every doll in my collection has an official identity: a brand, a release year, a designer, a collection and a history.
I love researching those details and documenting the models I’ve collected. That’s what The Doll Collection is all about.
But some of my dolls have another identity entirely.
They become characters.
Some are inspired by people I know and love. Others are born entirely from my imagination. And sometimes, a doll arrives and I immediately know exactly who she’s going to be!
Others keep their original identities, especially the celebrities whose dolls I collect.
Not every doll becomes a resident of my fictional Society, and that’s perfectly fine. Some are simply beautiful pieces of doll history that I’m delighted to own.
But those who do join the cast?
Well, they’d better be ready for quite an adventure!
Welcome to The Society Club.
02 — THE SOCIETY CLUB
EVERYBODY KNOWS SOMEBODY.
At the heart of my miniature world are LaFlorette Aubrey and LeBru Lasalle, the founding couple of the Society.
They’re the ones who welcome new residents, bring people together and make sure everyone feels at home.
Their daughter, Ines Aubrey, has a special place among the younger generations, alongside a growing circle of friends and wonderfully complicated families.
And believe me, things can get complicated!
There are best friends, couples, siblings, blended families, marriages, divorces, unexpected romances and a few rather surprising connections.
Some characters have known each other forever. Others have just met. And sometimes, introducing one new resident means rewriting half the family tree!
That’s probably one of my favourite parts of storytelling: watching characters evolve and discovering how their lives become connected.
One doll becomes a character. One character meets another. And suddenly, there’s a whole Society to keep track of!
Thank goodness for family trees. Seriously.

03 — THE MINIATURE WORLD
WAIT… THEY MAKE THAT IN MINIATURE?!
One of the most exciting discoveries I made when I returned to doll collecting was that almost everything exists in 1/6 scale.
And I mean EVERYTHING.
Furniture, shoes, handbags, kitchen appliances, food, books, decorations, vehicles… You name it, someone has probably made a miniature version of it!
I discovered an incredible community of miniature artists and designers whose creativity, attention to detail and craftsmanship continue to amaze me.
And naturally, I wanted to give it a try myself.
I began experimenting with dioramas and roomboxes, creating printed stickers, customising vintage miniature objects and building little spaces where my characters could live their stories.
Sometimes, a single accessory inspires an entire scene.
Sometimes, I’ll spend an unreasonable amount of time searching for the perfect miniature chair.
Is it absolutely necessary? Probably not.
Am I going to look for it anyway? Absolutely.
Because when you’re creating a world, the little details make all the difference.
04 — THROUGH MY LENS
LIGHTS, CAMERA… DOLLS!
Photography has always been part of my creative life, so it was only natural that my dolls eventually found themselves in front of my camera.
But bringing my experience as a photographer into the miniature world was a whole new adventure!
And that’s when I discovered the extraordinary work of Bella Bella Doll
I immediately fell in love with the elegance, poetry and creativity of her doll photography. Her images showed me just how expressive and sophisticated miniature photography could be.
As a photographer myself, I was fascinated by her approach. I even bought her Doll Photography Book, filled with wonderful advice and creative techniques that helped me explore this new world through my own lens.
She didn’t just inspire me to photograph dolls. She inspired me to see them differently.
And what a wonderful group of models they turned out to be!
They never complain about the weather, never ask for a coffee break and are usually very patient when I spend far too long adjusting the lighting.
Well… most of the time.
I approach doll photography much as I approach photographing people: thinking about the light, the composition, the atmosphere and, most importantly, the story I want to tell.
I create scenes, arrange miniature sets, choose outfits and experiment with perspective to make these little moments feel as real as possible.
Some photographs are taken in carefully designed indoor settings. Others come to life outdoors, surrounded by real landscapes — including the extraordinary scenery of Reunion Island, where I live.
And sometimes, a simple glance between two dolls is enough to suggest an entire story.
A photograph captures a moment. Imagination takes care of the rest.

05 — INSPIRED BY THE WORLD AROUND ME
CREATIVITY IS MEANT TO BE SHARED.
One of the greatest joys of this adventure has been discovering the people behind all these miniature worlds.
Collectors, photographers, fashion designers, miniature makers, artists and storytellers from around the world have inspired me in ways I could never have imagined.
Some have generously shared their knowledge. Others have encouraged me to try something new, experiment with different techniques or simply trust my own creativity.
And along the way, some have become wonderful friends.
Because no creative universe exists entirely on its own.
We learn from each other. We inspire each other. We share discoveries, ideas, advice and sometimes a little collective excitement over a new Barbie release!
There’s always someone creating something extraordinary, and I love being part of a community that celebrates imagination in so many different ways.
That’s also why LaFlorette Doll Society is more than a place to showcase my own creations.
It’s a place to celebrate the people who inspire them.
06 — THE STORY NEVER REALLY ENDS
THERE’S ALWAYS ROOM FOR ONE MORE.

The funny thing about creating a fictional world is that it never really feels finished.
A new doll arrives. A new character is born. Someone falls in love.
Another family grows. A miniature object inspires a photoshoot.
And suddenly, I have ten new ideas competing for my attention.
My collection keeps evolving, my characters keep surprising me.
And that’s exactly how I like it.
Because LaFlorette Doll Society isn’t a finished story.
It’s a world in progress.
A world where I can collect, create, experiment,
imagine and have an absolutely wonderful time doing it.
So, welcome to life in 1/6 scale.
And don’t be surprised if you get attached to a few of the residents along the way!
